University of Oklahoma cancels ‘Legally Blonde’ the Musical’ and Contemporary Dance Oklahoma

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma’s Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts has canceled two spring productions due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“University Theatre, along with countless other producers of theatrical events around the world, has found it necessary to preserve health and safety standards for audiences, crew, and performers by cancelling the upcoming productions of ‘Legally Blonde’ and Contemporary Dance Oklahoma, Unfortunately, we are unable to make these productions available in an alternative format due to their complexity,” Professor Mary Margaret Holt, dean of the Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts, said in an email.
As previously reported, both “Legally Blonde the Musical” and Contemporary Dance Oklahoma were initially postponed from March to later in spring. But now, both productions have been scrapped as shelter-at-home initiatives to slow the spread of the virus have been extended.
Ticketholders who wish to request a refund for their tickets are asked to contact the OU Fine Arts box office at 325-4101 by April 30.
“We wish you good health and we look forward to sharing our 2020-2021 University Theatre season with you,” Holt said in her statement.
