JAMMU, Sept 21: The ongoing SaMaPa Digital Baithak Series being presented by SaMaPa (Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts) under the aegis of the great music legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori and music maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori featured young and eminent musicians in its 12th week of presentation.
Divya Ravi from the United Kingdom presented Bharatnatyam dance recital and Pt Sadanand Naimpalli from Mumbai presented a Tabla solo recital. SaMaPa Digital Baithak series have till now featured 24 concerts by musicians of different age groups running exclusively on SaMaPa’s official YouTube channel.
The first programme of the 12th week featured Tabla solo recital by eminent maestro of India Pandit Sadanand Naimpalli, who is also an outstanding Pakhawaj player. He presented a variety of Peshkar, Kaida, Rela, Gats, Mohra, Tukde, Chakradhaar and Paran set to rarely heard Taal Pancham Sawari, a 15 beat cycle. He was accompanied on the Harmonium by Sameer Naimpalli.
Earlier an introduction to the recital was presented by the eminent musicologist, critic, writer and Tabla Guru Pt Vijay Shanker Mishra, who gave a detailed explanation. The other concert featured the young talented Bharatanatyam dancer who presented Kriti (Sriman Narayana), Ashtapadi (Sakhi Hey) and Bhajan (Sri Ramachandra Kripalu Bhajamana). Her Fluid grace, taut lines, neat movement vocabulary, and finesse in expressions marked her presentation.
The introduction was presented by the celebrated Bharatanatyam exponent Guru Geeta Chandran, who gave an elaborated andeducative explanation of the dance form. The Baithaks were coopered by the renowned broadcaster and anchor Sadhna Shrivastav.
SaMaPa is acclaimed as a cultural movement and a cultural bridge of Jammu & Kashmir with the rest of the country. It is credited to have created a new generation of music connoisseurs. The motto of SaMaPa is ‘Jan Jan Tak Sangeet’ (music to the masses) and this Digital Baithak is intended to create a bridge between the artist and the audiences worldwide during the present circumstances.
