Prince Gupta on Birju Maharaj’s birthday: His Jugalbandi choreography in ‘Dil to Pagal Hai’ is my favorite | Gujarati Movie News

Prince Gupta is a household name in the entertainment industry. He is one of the most sought after talented choreographers who has carved his niche with a popular television reality dance show and rose to fame with his style in popping, locking, and a few other dance forms. Being a dancer-choreographer, Prince wished versatile classical dancer Pandit Birju Maharaj as he celebrated his 82nd birthday on February 4 . In a conversation with ETimes, Gupta shared his warm wishes for Birju Ji.

Prince relayed, “Birju Maharaj is a legend. When I was small I had heard a few names in the dance field in India and Birju Ji was one of them. He is one of the pioneers of Indian classical dancing. He is the one who has taken Indian classical to the next level. He has trained and choreographed a lot of Bollywood actors and they are still the best in an industry once trained under him.”

He further expressed his disappointment of not being able to work with him. “I never got a chance to meet him but it’s on my wishlist to meet him and listen to all his experience about how he is so passionate about classical dancing and his experience of classical dance when the dance was not at all a career opportunity.”

“Birju Maharaj’s Jugalbandi choreography in ‘Dil to Pagal Hai’ is my most favorite and I just hope to meet him soon, Prince signed off.
