Fort Bend County Libraries to host talks by local African American authors in February

Throughout the month of February, Fort Bend County Libraries will host three live-streamed talks by local African American authors Tonya Duncan Ellis, Deborah D.E.E.P Mouton and Crystal Allen.

FBCL is presenting the series, named “Author Spotlight: Voices of Diversity,” in conjunction with the Fort Bend County Diversity Over Division Initiative.

The first talk by Tonya Duncan Ellis will take place on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. Ellis is a former journalist and the author of Amazon’s Sophie Washington children’s series.

Houston’s poet laureate emeritus Deborah Mouton will speak on Saturday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. Mouton is an internationally recognized writer, educator, activist and performer of slam poetry.

The final author spotlight will feature award-winning author Crystal Allen on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. Allen received the SCBWI Sid Fleishman Humor Award in 2018 for her children’s book The Magnificent Mya Tibbs.
