Dvora Polak is a 14-year-old piano player who’s been housebound for several years due to a rare health condition.
Despite her limitations, as well as restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Miami, Florida native got to perform at the virtual gala for Chai Lifeline, an international children’s health support network.
And she also got the surprise of a lifetime when some high-profile musicians, including Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli and jazz saxophonist Kenny G, made an appearance during her Hanukkah piano recital.
Unforgettable: Dvora Polak, 14, had a welcome surprise when a group of musicians, including Kenny G and Andrea Bocelli, made an appearance during her Hanukkah piano recital
The video begins with the young teenager nervously introducing herself at her home as she sat with her back to her piano.
With an infectious charm and big beaming smile on her face, she looks straight into the camera and confesses playing piano and singing are her ‘favorite hobbies.’
‘After my surgery at eight-years-old, my mom got me a piano teacher. My dream is to become a musician — hopefully, a piano player and a singer, because it makes me really happy,’ Dvora continued in the video.

Surprise: Two messages about the surprise guests appeared on the screen just as the young musician was about to begin playing
Then, just as she reveals that she’s ‘so excited to play in front of thousands of people,’ a message appears across the screen, informing the viewers that ‘Dvora thinks she is performing solo tonight.’
‘I’m am so thankful for Chai Lifeline for this wonderful opportunity,’ she humbly adds before turning to face her piano.
As she’s about to play her first note of the song another message flashes across the screen: ‘Chai Lifeline has arranged a little surprise for her…’
The teen begins playing on her own, but unbeknownst to her a number of musicians jump in to back her about 20 seconds into the performance, which included the likes of violinist Joshua Bell, 53, and 13-year-old Jacob Velazquez, from America’s Got Talent, on drums.

At the end of the video, Bocelli jumped in to offer some inspiring words. Like Dvora, the tenor, 62, had to persevere when he was a child, as he was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma at five-months-old, and became completely blind at age 12, following a soccer accident.
‘My dear Dvora, I know that you love, very much, the music, and I know also that every musician loves you, as you know,’ he says in the clip.
‘I really hope to meet you as soon as possible.’
