Choreographer Arnab Bandopadhyay and his troupe recently showcased an hour-long group dance and solo performances as a part of a cultural event at ICCR. The presentation titled, A Handful Of Dust: A Journey In Odissi, began with a traditional mangalacharan and closed with the segment dasavatar. One of the highlights of the evening was a solo act by Arnab based on ardhanariswar, which celebrated the concept of gender equality. The host for the evening was interdisciplinary artiste, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee, and the event was attended by a few known faces from the city’s art and culture sphere. Sujoy also read an excerpt from Arjun Krishnachura Katha penned by Mandakranta Sen, and rendered the Rabindrasangeet Kaar Milono Chaao Biroho at the do.

Arnab, who was happy to be back on the stage for a live show after so many months, said, “I am elated to perform at ICCR along with my students and also collaborate with an artiste like Sujoy. I am glad that we performed together in a show on his birthday.”

Post the show, Arnab planned a surprise birthday party for Sujoy.
