Thanksgiving is the star, but there are plenty of other activities to enjoy this weekend and put you in a holiday mood:

Green Friday: San Diego County Parks and Recreation Department encourages everyone to enjoy the day after Thanksgiving with outdoor experiences on “Green Friday.” Green Friday promotes fitness and fun in county parks. Events are active and educational, open to the public and free. Even the day-use fees are waived. In North County, people are encouraged to add shade and habitat for local wildlife at a tree-planting event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Live Oak County Park, 2746 Reche Road, Fallbrook. All ages are welcome. Trees and materials will be provided. Protective clothing, sturdy shoes and gloves are recommended. Don’t forget to bring water and a snack/lunch. Register to (760) 728-2303. Tree lighting: The Bonsall Chamber of Commerce presents a community tree lighting from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at River Village, 5256 Mission Road, Bonsall. Admission is free. The event includes a photo booth, balloon art, vendors, crafts for kids, popcorn and hot cocoa. Santa will be there, and an Irish folk dance group will perform. Call (760) 630-1933.

Holiday lights: The Forum opens its Winter WonderLights holiday light show and magical snowfall at 5 p.m. Friday. Shows will take place hourly until closing every Friday and Saturday night through Dec. 12. Bring the family and enjoy the show while social distancing. You can even enjoy the show from your car. No matter where you are in the main part of The Forum, you can enjoy the show safely. And starting Dec. 5 through Dec. 20, enjoy safe, contact-free visits with Santa in his Secret Garden from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Santa will be inside a giant snow globe for social distancing, behind the Christmas tree between Lululemon and Paper Source. Bring your cameras and masks — visiting Santa is free. The Forum is at 1923 Calle Barcelona, Carlsbad.
